Château des ducs de Bourbon, Montluçon

Came here for a brain-numbing session on the French administration. Definitely did not expect to find this beauty in the heart of the city.
Montluçon is built around a medieval town from the 11th century

  1. A wonderful shot of the Chateau in Montlucon which I have visited a couple of times. I like Montlucon very much and it is as close to the heart of France as anywhere on a map, I think. Allier has a proliferation of chateaux as a result of being the home of those Bourbonnaise ducs … I harbour a secret and childish desire to own one 😉 Greetings from Cantal by the way 🙂

    1. Dear Osyth, thanks for stopping by my humble blog! 🙂
My husband is from Allier and the more I discover it, the more surprising beauty I find, which no one talks about, so I like to tell people about it!
I think it is the most under-represented region of France.
And of course, there is all the wonderful history linking up the beautiful medieval villages, castles and roman churches in the region today!
And don’t worry, you’re not the only one dreaming of it (which is not childish or has to be secret! 😉 … I fell in love with them after holding our wedding in one.

      1. Oooh! Married in one – how delightful! And I am 100% with you on Allier … it is so under-represented. My mission is to get people to understand just how beautiful the Auvergne is … I think it is the most beautiful region in France – so many different landscapes, such wonderful villages, such architecture. And actually the prettiest villages and best chateaux are in Allier without question. Well done you for marrying an Allier man! I am going to follow you back – it will be a fun ride, I am sure!!
